Carrie Caffrey is a Chicago-native lyricist, bookwriter, composer, and performer now rooted in the Big Apple. Her songs have been featured in the Lincoln Center Broadway’s Future Songbook Series, at 54 Below, the New Studio on Broadway, York Theatre, NYMTF, and in cabarets internationally. Her musical For Show has been developed at NYU and York University, and was named a semifinalist for the 2022 O’Neill National Musical Theatre Conference. In 2020, Carrie made her Off-Broadway writing and performing debut in Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre’s Village Song. The same year her musical The Recipe was named a semifinalist for NAMT's 15-Minute Musical Competition. She has also written two musicals commissioned for BAM Youth Theater in Chicago, and is a recipient of the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust.

Carrie received a Masters of Fine Arts from New York University’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre & Sociology from Northwestern University. She has also worked on new musicals as a lyric advisor and script assistant, and has served as a guest teaching artist at Elon University. Carrie is the co-founder of Pindrop Productions - an audio-production company dedicated to developing new musical theatre - , and is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild, MAESTRA, ASCAP, and the Theatre Now National Lab. When not writing, Carrie enjoys obsessing over the latest season of Survivor and continuing her hunt for the world’s best bread.
